Residential & Conservatory
Window Films

Shield’s Residential window films have been specifically designed for domestic properties and offer dramatic reductions in the Solar Gain, Glare and Fading caused by the Suns rays and Ultra Violet light transmissions. Whilst also providing increased safety & security from, accidental glass breakage, vandalism, attempted break-ins and UV light sensitive medical conditions.

Comprehensive choice of film types and colours available to satisfy individual tastes whilst providing the level of protection required. These include Dual Reflective Films, ideal for conservatory roof glazing, and virtually clear spectrally selective films for the vertical windows and Clear UV Filter films to reduce harmful rays.

Conservatory to Hot?

Glass conservatories are meant to provide a light and additional living area but unfortunately a common complaint is that on sunny days they virtually become like Greenhouses & are too hot to use.

Shield’s window films applied to the existing glass, especially on the Roof glazing, will dramatically reduce the amount of Solar Gain, Glare and UV rays at source to provide a more comfortable, usable environment all year round.

Fading

One of the reason consumers choose window film is to protect their valuable furniture, draperies, and flooring from fading.

What Causes Fading:

It is very important to understand that ultraviolet contributes only 40% to the fading problem. Visible light contributes 25% and solar energy (heat) contributes another 25%. Being able to effect and reduce the heat and light transmission on these three factors Shield’s window films are able to dramatically reduce the rate of fading. As the remaining 10% of what causes fading is directly tied to the quality of the dyes used in furnishings, fabric, and carpets it is not possible to totally eliminate fading.

Dermagard UV Protection Film

Dermagard is a technically advanced, clear polyester coating which is applied to existing glass. It keeps out almost 99.8% of Ultra-Violet light, at 380nm, while allowing daylight and clear vision through the glass – making life more normal for those that suffer from light sensitive conditions, for example Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE or lupus) and Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP). It goes on working day in and day out; its scratch resistant coating ensures it is easily cleaned and needs no maintenance. The film can also be applied to the family car for even more freedom, and is being installed in playgroups, schools, dermatology clinics…
